Todai-ji in Nara

Le Todai-ji (東大寺) est le temple le plus important de Nara. La porte sud du site la Nandai-mon et sa horde d'étudiants en visite. Le Daibutsu-den (大仏殿, Salle du Bouddha) qui abrite le plus grand Bouddha en bronze du Japon. C'est aussi le plus grand édifice en bois du monde. Bref c'était MAGNIFIQUE !

The Todai-ji (东大寺) is the most important temple in Nara. The southern door of the site: the Nandi-mon and his horde of visiting students. The Daibutsu-den (大仏殿, Buddha Hall) which shelter the most big bronze Buddha in Japan. It is also the most largest wooden building in the world. It was GREAT!

Automne à Osaka Jô - 大坂城

Cette semaine il a fait très beau et très froid. Aussi j'en ai profité pour aller me promener dans le parc d'Osaka Jô, ce fut un festival de Chrysanthèmes et Ginkgo biloba (C'est un arbre très aimé ici). L'espèce est la plus ancienne connue puisqu'elle serait apparue il y a plus de 270 million d'années. Le Ginkgo est donc plus vieux que les dinosaures et a survécu à tous les bouleversements climatiques de notre planète!
Le château d'Ōsaka (大坂城・大阪城) originellement appelé Ozaka Jô, est un des châteaux les plus célèbres du Japon car il a joué un rôle majeur durant l'unification du Japon au XVIe siècle.

This week it was very beautiful and very cold. So I took the opportunity to walk in the Osaka Jô park, was a festival of Chrysanthemums and Ginkgo biloba (This is a tree very loved here). The species is the oldest tree species known, more than 270 million years old. It is appeared before the dinausaures and has survived all weather upheavals on our planet!

Originally called Ozakajō (大坂城・大阪城; ), it is one of Japan's most famous castles, and played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century.

Automne au temple Shimogamo-jinja à Kyoto

Ça y est, il fait froid! Et même si les azalées fleurissent on a bien besoin d'une petite laine! Heureusement j'ai investi dans un kotatsu qui devrait me tenir les pieds au chaud cette hiver...

Hier avec mon amie botaniste allemande Nina nous avons visité le jardin botanique de Kyoto. Puis nous avons poussé notre promenade jusqu'au temple shintô Shimogamo-jinja. Le sanctuaire Kamo Shimogamo-jinja (下鴨神社, sanctuaire Kamo inférieur) fait parti d'une paire de sanctuaires shintô de Kyôto. Il compte parmi les plus vieux sanctuaire du pays et est dédié au Kami Wake-ikazuchi, l'esprit du tonnerre. Il est classé Monument historique de l'ancienne Kyôto et fait partie de la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO. Il y avait là plusieurs mariages... Ce qui est impressionnant c'est de voir le nombre de Kimonos que doit porter la mariée. Ici un shiro-muku (robe blanche de la mariée).

Now the weather is pretty cold! And even if the azaleas bloom, we need to wear a big pull! Fortunately I invested in a kotatsu. It should keep my feet warm this winter... Yesterday with my botanist german friend Nina we visited the botanical gardens of Kyoto. Then we pushed our walk to the Shintô temple Shimogamo-jinja. The Kamo Shimogamo Jinja (下鴨神社) is a pair of Shintô shrines in Kyoto. It is among on of the oldest shrines in the country. This shrines is dedicated to Kamo Wake-ikazuchi, the kami (god) of thunder. Along with several other shrines, temples and castles in the city, it is a figure of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto" designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

There were several marriage ... And it is impressive to see the number of Kimonos that be wear by the bride. Here a muku-shiro (white dress of the bride).

Didactisme japonais

Ca faisait un bout de temps...

Le temps passe vite surtout lorsqu'on doit déménager et meubler son appartement (aussi petit soit-il...). Cette semaine a été chargée côté administratif et démarches en tous genre, et pas vraiment côté découverte... Côté photo, hier je suis allée me promener en forêt sur le mont Icoma (frontière géographique entre la vallé d'Osaka et celle de Nara) où l'automne commence à poindre! Côté dessin, un essai sur la vue du mont Icoma depuis la terrasse du labo. Sinon j'ai pu profiter du festival de l'université qui fête ses 80 ans, yaki soba, yakitori, râmen et takoyaki à volonté! Et surtout j'ai pu assister à une cérémonie du thé réalisée par des étudiants...

Time passes quickly especially when you move on and furnish your apartment (however small...). So this week was not realy funny: administration and procedures, and not really new Japanese discovery... About the photo, yesterday I walked in the forest on ICOMA Mountain (geographical border between the valley of Osaka and Nara) where fall began to emerge! About the sketch, trying the view of ICOMA Mountain from the terrace of the lab. Otherwise I have also benefited from the university festival (80th year anniversary): Yaki Soba, Yakitori, Râmen and Takoyaki at will! And I could attend a tea ceremony performed by students ...
